After a long, hard day at the office, this man returned home from work exhausted, and simply sat on the sofa, turned on the TV to watch the game without having to listen to his children screaming over his head and his wife criticizing him because he does not help with the housework.

That day he and his wife had a heated argument, after which the woman picked up her things and left the house. When she didn’t return for two days, her husband decided to write a letter and publish it on his Facebook profile:

“My dear,

Two days ago we had a big fight. I arrived tired from work and I just wanted to watch TV.

When I saw you, you were exhausted and nervous. You fought with the children because they didn’t want to go to bed.

And what did I do? I just turned up the volume.

That made things even worse. You told me that it wouldn’t kill me if I sometimes offer help. I told you that I work all day, but all you do is sit at home and play with the kids.

Our fight has gone so far that you started crying. I said cruel things, and you were yelling at me. You packed a few things and headed out of the house. I was alone with the children in the living room.

I had to prepare dinner and prepare the children to sleep. The next day, you didn’t come back and this meant that once again I have to take care of children.

I witnessed crying, shouting and frustration.

I learned that you often didn’t even have time to take a shower.

I learned what it’s like to do several things at once. I’ve experienced what it’s like to be inside all day and not be able to talk to anyone older than 10 years.

I learned what it’s like when you can’t eat in peace and can’t relax, because there is always something you need to do for the children.

I wanted to sleep 20 hours straight, but after 3 hours our crying son woke me up. I walked in you shoes for two days and two nights, and now I understand.

I understand why you’re so tired.

I understand that being a mother requires constant sacrifice. I understand why you were so upset because you couldn’t rely on me, your partner. You couldn’t have fun, enjoy going out or, simply sleep in quiet.

I understand how difficult it can be at home all day and care for the children. I understand that being a mother means to carry the largest burden in society. A burden that no one can understand except you.

I am writing this letter because I want you to know that not only do I miss you, but I want and promise you that not a day will pass, without me saying:

“You are incredibly brave, you are a wonderful wife and mother! I admire you.”

This letter went viral, and it’s no wonder! It is written from the heart and everything in it is absolutely true.
